Russo-Turkish war of 1877-78

I guess this is one of the lesser known European wars of the late 19th century.

And alone because of this naturally interesting for me:-)  But as I have to paint from 0 and so far have not painted much over 50 figures for it this will be a long way.

Several wargame clubs like the Nottingham Wargameclub took on the subject (and in the right scale too:-)) . I took a few photos from TMP and their homepage.

Konstantino prefers 10mm with his wargame club from Istanbul. Try this link

Uniformplates you can find at Pinterest and a lot of books for free are available at Google Books.

And hopefully in the future I can show a 5000+figures diorama here. At least the unpainted figures are already stored...

    1. Hi Will,

I am not so sure about Flaherty's plates. Often his sources are meager, just one contemporary paintings. His Tunisian Spahis come from a hand-colored drawing. The problem is that usually the guys who colored the plates were no eye-witnesses and simply painted what they liked.

It gets worse when he starts on other subjects (like the Sardinians in the Crimea)...

      cheers
